Senior Career Fair Highlights Critical Workforce Trend

Recent reports indicate that hiring seniors will be a critical factor in surviving America’s predicted workforce shortage, as millions of baby boomers retire in the next 10 years.  According to a report in Inc.com, “Companies that do not plan for this aging workforce may find themselves suddenly faced with a loss of labor, experience and expertise that will be difficult to offset, given the relatively small pool of new workers and competition for talent.”

According to CHR co-founder and CEO Mary House, “We have commitments from several insightful employers who recognize the value of seniors in the workplace, and they are coming prepared to fill a variety of positions.“

Participating corporations and non-profit organizations will be hiring customer service representatives, call center associates, casino workers, airport personnel, food and beverage staff, security guards, retail sales team members and more.”
Seniors 55 and older who wish to participate are asked to bring two forms of identification along with plenty of resumes, and they are urged to dress for success.

This event draws over 100+ seniors seeking employment. We had over 60 intent to hire aplications from prospective employers.

Since 1996, CHR, a faith based non-profit corporation, has helped hundreds of Nevadans with transitional housing, employment, utility assistance, childcare, transportation and food vouchers.  The agency delivers employment and training services to eligible adult and dislocated workers residing in Southern Nevada.
